Before & After Photos

I get questions from clients all the time regarding my editing process. I am going to answer my most frequently asked questions when it comes to editing, along with some examples as well!

Do you retouch or edit your pictures?

  • Yes I do! In fact, I love editing. I feel like half of my job as the photographer is capturing the image, but the other half is bringing it to life through the editing process.

**Here are some examples of some before and after’s. Notice in the image of the dog, the leash is removed and there is some slight color correction. In the second image, we have some color correction as well.

If I don’t like the way I look in a picture, can you just edit the part I don’t like?

  • This depends. If you have some acne that you are wanting removed, yes I will remove minor skin issues. If you are wanting me to remove 10 pounds from your body or add 6 feet to your height, I unfortunately would not be able to make that change. I will not make any major alterations to your body. My goal with editing is to create a more cohesive gallery, and to enhance the beauty that is already there. If you have insecurities with your body, please let me know before our shoot. I have tips and tricks for making you appear taller or look thinner in your images. So let’s work together to create images where you feel beautiful!

If I like really moody and dark pictures, can you edit the pictures the way that I want them?

  • I would encourage you to look at my work to see my style. Although I will make minor adjustments from my usual work, I won’t completely change my style to match yours. I hope you can understand that my style is what sets me apart from other photographers in my area, and it is something that I have taken years to perfect.

Can you give me the raw images without editing?

  • I unfortunately do not give raw images. I always want to give you the best of my work, and that includes editing.

** In the first image, there is color change. The reason I shoot the initial picture so dark is to maintain the details in the image. If I would have lightened the image when I first took it, I would have lost a lot of the details in post production. The second image has some color correction as well.

How long does it take you to edit?

  • It depends on the size of the gallery. It usually takes me about 3-7 days.

I hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have questions! Here are some more examples of some befores and afters!
